Domaine de la Chapelle Organic and Biodynamic Wine Selection: AOP Chinon Cabernet Franc and Chenin

Expressions

The winemaker is a guide who strives to create the optimal conditions for wine to come to life. His patient and meticulous work celebrates the expression of the Cabernet Franc and Chenin grapes from each of our plots. Through respect for life in the vineyard and the winery, and through the high standards and care applied to every step of the process, we reveal the many facets of these iconic Loire Valley grape varieties. We must observe, blend, and select.

All wines are produced using organic and biodynamic farming methods.

Les Joueurs (The Players)

To the observant eye, our lowland regions are not monolithic. They offer subtle variations and sometimes unexpected nuances to the Cabernet Franc grapes.

Les Lutteurs (The Wrestlers)

Cabernet Franc from two plots of old vines, “La Bellonnière” and “Doulaie.” The wines from these plots have a muscular, energetic, and full-bodied profile. This impetuosity must be subtly tempered through extended aging in large oak barrels.

Les Bâtisseurs (The Builders)

A Cabernet Franc cuvée from the “La Bâtisse” and “La Petite Forêt” plots. A unique and unconventional wine with delicate fruit flavors derived from vines of varying ages, grown on clay-flint soils. Subtle aging in large wooden casks adds depth and prepares the wine to age well over time.

Les Grands Bournais

Label details for the Les Grands Bournais AOP Chinon organic white wine

A single-vineyard selection of young Chenin Blanc vines planted in clay and sandstone soil at the top of a small hill overlooking the town of Brizay. As one might expect, this is an epicurean and voluptuous wine—fresh and rich.

La Croix Boissée

A plot of Chenin Blanc planted in 2012 in an iconic locality within the appellation. Renowned for both its white and red wines, La Croix Boissée is a south-facing hillside with yellow and white tuffeau soils that give the wine body and a distinctive, lively character.

Le Clos Rosé

Wine bottle label for the 2025 vintage of the Chinon rosé "Le Clos" from Domaine de la Chapelle, produced using organic and biodynamic methods.

From a plot of young Cabernet Franc vines located just a few meters from the winery, we craft a vibrant, crisp Loire rosé. Made in the style of a white wine, this cuvée exudes the warmth and cheer of a sunny day.
