FAQ
-
Domaine de la Chapelle is owned by Laurent Dumas, CEO of the Emerige Group. It was established following the acquisition of Domaine Jourdan in 2022. Its name is derived from the historic name of the estate founded by Philippe Pichard in 1983.
-
The Domaine de la Chapelle is located at 5 rue du Puy in Cravant-les-Côteaux, on the banks of the Vienne River, a few kilometers east of Chinon. It is situated within the Chinon appellation in the Loire Valley.
-
No. Domaine de la Chapelle is an independent winery in the Chinon appellation, in the Loire Valley, and has no connection to Hermitage La Chapelle in the Rhône Valley. There are several wineries in France that bear the name “La Chapelle.” This one produces only AOC Chinon wines, made from Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc.
-
These are two sister estates owned by the same person, Laurent Dumas. Domaine Jourdan is the historic brand, sold primarily for export. Domaine de la Chapelle has been the estate’s new line since the 2023 vintage.
-
Yes. The estate is certified organic and Demeter-certified for biodynamic farming. The vineyards have been cultivated organically since 2008 and biodynamically since 2016.
-
The estate’s team, led by Cédric Monory, has been joined since early 2025 by Romain Guiberteau, a renowned winemaker from Saumur. He advises the estate on winemaking and aging.
-
The Domaine de la Chapelle cultivates 18 hectares within the Chinon AOC: 16.5 hectares of Cabernet Franc and 1.5 hectares of Chenin Blanc.
-
The lineup is intentionally small: three reds and one rosé made from Cabernet Franc, as well as two whites made from Chenin. The reds are Les Joueurs, Les Lutteurs, and Les Bâtisseurs. The rosé is called Le Clos. The whites are Les Grands Bournais and La Croix Boissée.
-
The Chinon appellation is best known for its Cabernet Franc reds. Chenin Blanc is rare there, but the estate cultivates 1.5 hectares of it across two very different plots. Each wine has a unique profile: rich and sunny for Les Grands Bournais, and elegant and powerful for the iconic La Croix Boissée plot.
-
The owner, Laurent Dumas, approaches wine as an art form: each vintage is illustrated by a different contemporary artist selected through the Emerige scholarship program. David Festoc designed the 2023 vintage, and Raphaëlle Peria designed the 2024 vintage.
-
The wines are available for purchase through the estate’s online store, at wine shops, and in restaurants in France (list available upon request). Internationally, they are distributed in the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Israel, Belgium, and Germany.

The online store ships to mainland France and Corsica. For delivery to the French overseas departments and territories or internationally, simply contact the estate at info@domaine-de-la-chapelle.com or at 02 47 97 81 59.
